Transcript Errors
These are the transcript-related errors that can appear when generating transcripts, opening stored transcript pages, or using AI summaries.
Discord Command Errors
"Please select a text channel to generate a transcript."
What happened: The /transcript command was pointed at something other than a standard text channel.
What to do: Choose a regular text channel and run the command again.
"I need View Channel and Read Message History permissions in <#CHANNEL_ID> to generate a transcript."
What happened: Nexcord can see the channel command, but it cannot read enough of that channel to export messages. What to do: A server admin should give the bot View Channel and Read Message History in that channel, then try again.
Note: The following transcript error is a plan-limit error.
"Unlimited transcript fetching requires Pro..."
What happened: The requested transcript size is only available on the Pro plan. What to do: Lower the requested scope if possible, or ask a server admin to upgrade the server to Pro.
"An unexpected error occurred."
What happened: The transcript command failed without returning a more specific reason. What to do: Try generating the transcript again. If the problem continues, check the bot's channel permissions first.
Transcript and Summary API Errors
"Forbidden"
What happened: The current account is not allowed to access that transcript or summary for the selected server. What to do: Sign in with an account that still has access to the server, or ask a server admin to confirm your access.
"Transcript not found"
What happened: Nexcord could not find a saved transcript matching the requested ID or public token. What to do: Refresh the transcript list and open the item again. If it was deleted or expired, generate a new transcript if needed.
"Failed to generate transcript URL"
What happened: Nexcord found the transcript record, but could not create a secure download or viewer URL for it. What to do: Try again later. If it keeps happening, regenerate the transcript from Discord if possible.
Note: The following summary errors are plan-limit errors.
"Pro subscription required"
What happened: AI summarization is only available on servers with Pro. What to do: Ask a server admin to upgrade the server to Pro before trying to generate or open AI summaries.
"No summary yet"
What happened: A summary has not been created for that transcript yet. What to do: Trigger summary generation from the dashboard and wait for it to finish.
Dashboard Transcript Errors
"Failed to load transcript."
What happened: The dashboard or public transcript page could not load the transcript metadata. What to do: Refresh the page and try again. If the transcript was removed or expired, open another transcript from the list.
"Failed to load transcript content."
What happened: Nexcord loaded the transcript record, but could not fetch the rendered transcript content. What to do: Refresh the page once. If it still fails, reopen the transcript from the transcript list.
"Failed to load summary. Please try again."
What happened: The summary panel could not load the current summary state. What to do: Refresh the page and try again. If no summary exists yet, generate one from the dashboard.
"Failed to generate summary. Please try again."
What happened: The dashboard could not start or complete summary generation. What to do: Try generating the summary again. If the server is on the Free plan, confirm that Pro is enabled first.
"This transcript link has expired and is no longer available."
What happened: The public transcript page is no longer available because the transcript expired under the current retention rules. What to do: Ask a server admin to generate a fresh transcript if the channel content is still available.
"Transcript has expired"
What happened: The public transcript token is valid, but the transcript is past its retention window. What to do: Ask a server admin to generate a new transcript if access is still needed.
