Verification Errors
These are the verification-related errors that members or server admins can see while setting up or using verification.
Setup Errors
"This command can only be used in a server."
What happened: The verification setup command was run in a DM or outside a Discord server. What to do: Run the command inside the Discord server where you want verification enabled.
"You need Administrator or Manage Server permission to set up verification."
What happened: The person running /verification setup does not have enough Discord permissions to configure the feature.
What to do: Ask a server admin or someone with Manage Server permission to run the setup command.
"Please select a text channel for verification."
What happened: The selected verification channel is not a standard text channel. What to do: Pick a regular Discord text channel and run the setup command again.
"This server has not been registered yet. Run /link first."
What happened: The server has not been linked to Nexcord yet.
What to do: Run /link in the server first, then try the verification setup again.
"I couldn't configure verification because I'm missing: ..."
What happened: The bot is missing one or more required Discord permissions before setup starts. What to do: Check the missing permissions listed in the message, update the bot's server or channel permissions, and try again.
"I couldn't configure the verification channel because I'm missing Manage Channels or Manage Roles permissions."
What happened: The bot could not finish the channel overwrite changes needed for verification setup. What to do: Give the bot Manage Channels and Manage Roles in the verification channel, and make sure no category override is blocking those permissions.
"Something went wrong saving your verification settings. Please try again."
What happened: Discord setup succeeded, but Nexcord could not save the verification settings. What to do: Try the setup again. If the error continues, open the dashboard and confirm the server is linked correctly.
"An unexpected error occurred while setting up verification. Please try again."
What happened: Setup failed for a reason other than a known Discord permission issue. What to do: Try again once. If it still fails, check that the bot can access the channel and that the server is linked in Nexcord.
Verification Flow Errors
"Verification is not set up for this server."
What happened: A member tried to start verification, but the server does not have a working verification setup.
What to do: A server admin should open the dashboard or rerun /verification setup and confirm the verification channel and verified role are still configured.
"Your Discord account must be at least ..."
What happened: The server has an account age requirement and the member's account is too new. What to do: Wait until the account meets the required age, or ask a server admin if the restriction should be changed.
"You must wait ... more minutes before verifying again in this server."
What happened: The server has a retry cooldown and the member tried again too soon. What to do: Wait for the cooldown to expire before starting verification again.
"You have reached the maximum number of verifications allowed in this server."
What happened: The member has used all verification attempts allowed by that server. What to do: Ask a server admin to review the server's verification limits or assist manually.
Note: The following errors are plan-limit errors. Fixing them may require a server admin to upgrade the server to Nexcord Pro.
"This server has reached its monthly verification limit (200). Ask a server admin to upgrade to Nexcord Pro for unlimited verifications."
What happened: The server is on the Free plan and has used all monthly verification attempts. What to do: Wait for the next monthly cycle or ask a server admin to upgrade to Pro for unlimited verifications.
"Invalid verification link."
What happened: The verification link is missing, invalid, or no longer matches an active verification token. What to do: Return to the Discord server, press the verification button again, and use the new link.
"This verification link is invalid."
What happened: The verification page could not load the token from the link. What to do: Start the verification flow again from Discord so you get a fresh link.
"This link has already been used."
What happened: The verification token was already completed once and cannot be reused. What to do: Start verification again from the Discord server if you still need access.
"This verification link has expired."
What happened: The verification page detected that the token is no longer valid. What to do: Go back to Discord and start the verification flow again to get a new link.
"Verification is not currently available for this server"
What happened: Verification is configured in the database, but a required Discord role is missing. What to do: A server admin should rerun verification setup or fix the missing verified role in the dashboard.
"Captcha verification failed."
What happened: The human verification step did not complete successfully. What to do: Refresh the page, complete the captcha again, and make sure privacy or content-blocking tools are not interfering.
"Monthly verification limit reached."
What happened: The server hit its allowed verified-member count for the current month. What to do: Wait for the next month or ask a server admin to upgrade the server if the limit is plan-related.
"VPN and proxy connections are not allowed to verify in this server."
What happened: The server blocks VPN or proxy traffic during verification. What to do: Turn off the VPN or proxy and try again. If you need an exception, contact the server's admin team.
"Your country is not allowed to verify in this server."
What happened: The server blocks verification attempts from your country. What to do: Contact the server's admin team if you believe the block is incorrect.
"Member not found in server."
What happened: The user is no longer in the Discord server while trying to verify. What to do: Rejoin the server first, then start verification again.
"Bot lacks permission to assign roles."
What happened: Nexcord reached the final verification step but could not give the verified role. What to do: A server admin should move the bot role higher and give it permission to manage the verified role.
"Failed to assign role."
What happened: Role assignment failed for a general Discord-side reason. What to do: A server admin should confirm the verified role still exists and that the bot can manage it.
"Failed to mark verification link as used."
What happened: Verification completed, but Nexcord could not save the token state afterward. What to do: Try again once. If the user already received the role, a server admin can verify access manually.
"You already have the verified role in this server."
What happened: The member is already verified and does not need to run the flow again. What to do: Return to the server and continue normally.
"Something went wrong. Please try again in a moment."
What happened: A general verification-start action failed in Discord. What to do: Wait a moment and press the verification button again.
"Something went wrong. Please try again."
What happened: The web verification form hit a general error that was not mapped to a more specific message. What to do: Refresh the page and retry once. If it keeps happening, ask a server admin to check the verification setup.
"Something went wrong."
What happened: The verification page failed to load the initial token state cleanly. What to do: Return to Discord, restart verification, and use the new link.
