Manual Transcripts
Manual transcripts are the fastest way to export a channel on demand.
Command
Use the /transcript slash command in Discord.
Supported behavior
- Transcript the current text channel by default.
- Optionally choose another text channel.
- Optionally set a message limit with
/transcript limit.
Message limit behavior
Free servers can use standard transcript limits. Pro servers can use larger exports, including unlimited collection when supported by the command settings.
/transcript
/transcript channel:#general
/transcript limit:500
What the bot returns
After the command runs, Nexcord returns a private response with:
- The transcript link
- The number of messages captured
- The expiration date
Retention rules
On the Free plan, transcript retention is 30 days. On Pro, transcript storage is not capped by the Free plan retention limit.
PDF Export
Pro servers can export any transcript as a PDF directly from the dashboard.
- Open the transcript from the Transcripts list.
- Click Export PDF (visible to Pro servers only).
- The transcript opens in a print-ready view — click Save to download as PDF.
The PDF includes message content, avatars, timestamps, attachment images, and clickable links. Enable Background graphics in the print dialog for the best result (dark theme is preserved automatically in Chrome).
Best practices
- Run manual transcripts for incident review, moderation audits, or support archives.
- Use channel-specific exports instead of large whole-server exports.
- Keep a consistent naming convention for channels so transcript history is easier to search later.
When to use auto-transcripts instead
If you repeatedly export the same channel, move to Auto-Transcripts and let Nexcord collect them on a schedule.
