VPN/Proxy Blocking

VPN/proxy blocking is an anti-abuse option for servers that want stricter verification signals.

What it does

When enabled, Nexcord can block verification attempts that appear to come from VPN or proxy infrastructure.

Why communities use it

  • To reduce large-scale abuse from throwaway connections
  • To raise the cost of repeated evasion attempts
  • To make verification more trustworthy for gated communities

Caveat

Some legitimate users rely on privacy tools. If your community serves privacy-conscious users, test carefully before making this a permanent requirement.

Recommended rollout

  1. Enable it only if abuse is an actual issue.
  2. Watch the verification logs for false positives.
  3. Provide a support path through your moderation team or support server.
